In this Leesa mattress review we uncover all there is to know about this mattress and test if it’s a Best Buy this year. Leesa is a US-based company but has now sprung into the UK market. A mattress in a box with a 100-night trial, free delivery, free returns if not satisfied, 10-year warranty and one mattress donated for every ten sold.
Sound interesting? let’s get straight into this Leesa mattress review (SUMMARY AT THE END).
Leesa Mattress Layer Construction
The Leesa mattress is considered
The Leesa mattress is manufactured here using BS 9001 quality standards. These are internationally recognised standards that are set in place to uphold the highest quality in manufacturing. Additionally, Leesa meets BS 7177:2008, BS EN 597-1:1995 and BS EN597-2:1995 standards. These are just a bunch of numbers and standards that mean the mattress abides by the regulation set out in the UK to be fire retardant.
All the foams used in the mattress are CertiPUR® certified and certified as CFC free. Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) is an ozone-depleting chemical. The Leesa mattress is designed in the USA but manufactured in the UK.

Leesa Mattress Cover
The cover is cut from one piece of woven fabric, which gives the mattress a modern and seamless design. Apart from being aesthetically pleasing the cover is also functional. The four stripes found at the end indicate which side you have been using when rotating the mattress to increase longevity.
The cover is from a poly-lycra blend fabric which is the same material used in performance clothing. It is highly breathable, and stretchy. Unfortunately, the cover does not have handles and is not machine washable, for spills and stains, Leesa recommends a spot clean with mild detergent and cool water – (blotting and dabbing rather than scrubbing).
If you are specifically looking for a mattress that has a machine washable cover and includes handles we would recommend you have a look at our other mattress review.

Leesa Mattress Layers
1. Top Cooling Layer (5cm)
The cooling Avena® foam is a key selling point for Leesa. Avena® is a patented form of polyurethane foam. This layer is very responsive which means it moulds to your body and quickly changes shape. This layer is less dense compared to your traditional polyfoam, it has more pores in the foam to enhance air circulation and also happens to make the layer softer.

2. Intermediate Memory Foam Layer (5cm)
Memory foam is the perfect material for body contouring. Memory foam is known for holding heat very well. But by placing the layer below the top cooling layer you receive the benefits of memory foam without the risk of over-heating. This is traditional memory foam which is a standard transition layer in the online mattress industry.

3. Dense Base Layer (15cm)
The base foam layer adds strength, durability and structure to support sleepers of all sizes. The foundation layer is also breathable (like the above layers) so it won’t hold or absorb heat.

How Thick Is the Leesa Mattress?
The Leesa mattress has a total thickness of 25cm and can hold a maximum of up to 18 stone or 114 kg per person.
Leesa Mattress Firmness
From our Leesa mattress review, we give it a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The combination of the thick support base and softer top layers gives this mattress a solid medium score. By manufacturing a medium feel, the Leesa mattress appeals to the majority of sleepers in the UK.

The Leesa mattress has a very welcoming image and it feels comforting. A mattress that hugs your body, that conforms to your body shape and supports spot pressure relief. Check, check and check.
If you do prefer a slightly more firm mattress perhaps the Leesa Luxury hybrid mattress is an option you could look into, it is also a more premium version which of course comes at a price.
Leesa Mattress Aesthetics
Leesa played it safe by choosing a white and grey colourway. The neutral colours will suit or appeal to the majority of its customers here in the UK. As previously mentioned the four stripes on the end of the mattress are functional but also aesthetically pleasing. What stands out are the seamless edges. Overall the look is awesome, inviting and modern.

Leesa Trial and Warranty
The Leesa mattress comes with a 100-night trial. This way you can experience the perfect nights’ sleep just as you normally would (in the comfort of your own home). This trial period is the online mattress industry norm.
You may return the mattress for whatever reason within 100 days from delivery. Simply contact customer service and they will arrange a collection at zero cost to you. In all our mattress reviews we always recommend that you try the mattress for about 3-4 weeks to allow your body to get familiar with the mattress.
Every Leesa mattress has a 10-year limited warranty which is standard for online mattress brands these days. This means Leesa will replace or repair it when it has a defect covered under the warranty.

Leesa Mattress Delivery Review
All Leesa mattresses are shipped in a 42cm x 42cm x 114cm box. The boxes are equipped with handles for easy manoeuvring around your home.
The Leesa mattress is made to order. Once an order is placed it takes 4-7 business days for Leesa to manufacture your mattress and deliver it directly to your door in the UK (the Republic of Ireland takes longer). It has to be said that this is a little bit disappointing as most online mattress brands deliver within 1-3 business days. For the sake of this Leesa mattress review, we found out that they are shipped from Glossop in the North West of England using UPS.
