In this Ergoflex mattress review, we look at the mattress that started it all. The first to bring out an affordably-priced memory foam mattress, the first to provide a one-size-fits-all mattress and the first to offer all of this in an online-only business model. The idea Ergoflex envisioned over a decade ago has now paved the way and become the industry norm here in the United Kingdom.
Let’s get straight into this Ergoflex mattress review, the only mattress-in-a-box brand that has been trading longer than their 10-year warranty period (SUMMARY AT THE END).
Ergoflex Mattress Construction
The Scandanavian orthopaedic designed 5th Generation from Ergoflex (aka Ergoflex 5G) has a unique composition of 3 foam layers. The mattress is perfect for those prone to allergies as it is asthma and allergy-friendly, as well as anti-microbial (inhibiting the growth of microorganisms and especially pathogenic microorganisms).
Ergoflex 5G Cover
The cover is split into two parts the inner and outer. The outer cover is made from TENCEL®. TENCEL® is entirely sustainable and natural, with moisture-wicking and breathability that outperforms traditional cotton. It’s exceptionally strong and durable, yet luxuriously silky and soft to the touch. A great feature about the Ergoflex cover is that on each end they included 3D mesh panels to allow for better airflow.
TENCEL cellular fibre construction is naturally anti-bacterial and achieves supreme hygienic performance even when compared to some synthetics. The cover is also very practical if you manage to get it dirty, you can pop it off and throw it in the wash (up to 30°C).
The Ergoflex also engineered the 5th generation with an inner protective cover. This microfine layer encases the mattress core and keeps the mattress all snug.
Ergoflex Foam Layers
1. Visco-Elastic Memory Foam Layer (9cm)
The top layer is made from true High-Density ACPT™ memory foam. This memory foam is designed with billions of spherical shaped open cells with orthopaedic pressure-reducing properties. HD memory foam has such great health benefits it's even used in hospitals throughout Europe.
Memory foam is widely known in the industry as the material to dissipate motion transfer. What does this mean? this means zero partner disturbance, making it an exceptional option for couples.
2. Cool-Sleep™ Airflow Layer (5cm)
This is the layer responsible for the optimal sleeping climate. The dome-shaped layer is not only great for airflow but is also perfect for conforming to the shape of your body, giving you that snug and secure feeling.
3. High-Resilience Base Foam (9cm)
A great mattress is always backed up by a supportive base, this not only provides push back but also increases the longevity of the mattress. This high-resilience foam also ensures optimal spinal alignment in any position.
How Thick Is the Ergoflex Mattress?
The Ergoflex is about the industry average in terms of thickness. It is 23cm in depth so rest assures your bedsheets will be compatible with the Ergoflex as well. The mattress can also hold up to 18 stone / 114 kg per person per side (based on 2 people per bed).
