I have worked in the UK mattress and bedding industry for over ten years, across retail, distribution and brand partnerships. I write every review on this site and take no payment from brands for coverage.

Background

I have worked in the mattress and bedding industry for over ten years, across retail, distribution and brand partnerships. That has meant selling mattresses to people face to face, handling stock from most of the brands sold in this country, dealing with the returns and warranty claims that follow, and working with brands on the commercial side.

The useful part of that is not glamour. It is having seen which mattresses come back, which complaints turn into claims, which guarantees get honoured easily and which turn into an argument, and how a product that reviews brilliantly in its first month is described by the same owner two years later.

Why I started this site

Because the UK mattress category is unusually badly served. The brands are sophisticated marketers. The products are expensive, bought rarely, and almost impossible to compare properly before purchase. And most of the sites that claim to help are ranking whatever pays the most commission.

The result is that someone spending 800 pounds on something they will use for eight years has almost nowhere honest to look. That gap is the entire reason this exists.

How I approach a review

Every review is built from four things: the manufacturer's published specification, the full warranty and trial documentation, current UK pricing, and owner reports read and counted across UK retailer sites, Trustpilot and forums. All of it gets weighed against what I know from the trade.

I do not run laboratory tests and I never describe measurements I have not taken. The method page sets out exactly what that means, including the limitations.

Every review carries a score out of ten across six criteria, a section on who the mattress is wrong for, and a recommendation of what I would buy instead where something better exists at the price. That last one costs me money regularly and is the point.

What I cover

  • Mattresses sold in the UK, with a focus on the bed-in-a-box brands most people are choosing between.
  • Mattress toppers, pillows, protectors and bedding.
  • Beds and frames, where they affect how a mattress performs.
  • Buying advice, UK size guides and care guides.
  • Brand accountability: ownership changes, administrations, regulatory action and what a guarantee is actually worth after one.

I do not cover sleep medicine. Where a page touches on a health topic it is general information and says so, and I would rather point you to a GP than pretend to expertise I do not have.

Independence

No brand pays me for coverage, placement or a score. The site earns affiliate commission on some links, which costs you nothing and does not change what I recommend. Several products I recommend pay me nothing at all.

The full policy, including what happens when a brand asks for a review to be changed, is on the editorial independence page.
