The best value in British mattress retail and the brand almost nobody has heard of. Up to 3,000 pocket springs at 26 centimetres for 265 pounds is a specification that Simba charges 899 for. The trade is a short UK trading history against a long guarantee, and you should know that before buying.

Several UK sites get this wrong
Origin sells three mattresses in the UK: the Hybrid at £265, the Hybrid Pro at £374 and the LumbarCloud at £797.
A number of UK review sites state that only the Hybrid is available here. It is not correct, and it matters because the Hybrid Pro is the better mattress and the one I would actually recommend.
The value case, stated numerically

Those last two lines are the whole argument. The same depth and the same spring count, for £374 against £1,249.
Simba's springs are not measuring the same thing, as I explain on the Simba review, so the comparison is not perfectly like for like. But no reading of those numbers makes the price gap proportionate.
What you are giving up
I would rather set this out than have you find it later.
Trading history. Origin is a newer entrant. A ten year guarantee from a company with a short trading record is a promise about 2036 from an entity that has not yet demonstrated it will be there. That is true of Emma, Simba and Otty too, and it is more acute here.
No shops. You cannot lie on one. With Simba you can, at Bensons.
Smaller returns operation. A large company collecting a mattress is a different experience from a small one. The trial terms may be generous and the logistics behind them are not the same.
Your protection is the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which sits with the retailer and runs up to six years in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Buying direct means Origin is that retailer, so weigh that accordingly.
Which Origin should you buy?
The Hybrid Pro at £374. It scores 8.4 on this site, the highest score I have given any mattress. Thirty-one centimetres and up to 5,700 springs for under four hundred pounds has no equivalent in Britain.
The Hybrid at £265 if budget is the constraint. It is still better specified than most mattresses at twice the price.
The hundred pound step between them buys five centimetres of depth and up to 2,700 more springs, which is one of the best value upgrades in this category.
A correction worth making
Commonly repeated, and wrong
Several UK mattress review sites state that Origin sells only one mattress in the United Kingdom. Origin sells three here: the Hybrid at 265 pounds, the Hybrid Pro at 374 and the LumbarCloud at 797. That matters because the Hybrid Pro is the better-specified mattress at 31 centimetres with up to 5,700 springs, and a reader told only the entry model exists will not find it.
Should you buy from Origin?
Yes, and the Hybrid Pro at £374 is the best value mattress in Britain on construction per pound. Nothing else comes close at that price.
Buy it knowing what you are trading: no shop to try it in, a shorter trading history behind the guarantee, and a smaller operation behind the returns. If those matter more to you than specification, Otty is the safer version of the same argument and Silentnight the safest.
