Best bamboo bedding
Bamboo bedding is bamboo viscose, a chemically regenerated fibre, and knowing that changes which claims you should pay for.
I earn a commission if you buy through some links on this page. It never changes what I recommend, and I publish negative verdicts on brands I earn from. Editorial independence.
What you are actually buying
Almost all bamboo bedding is bamboo viscose: bamboo cellulose dissolved in chemicals and extruded as fibre. Those chemicals are typically not recovered.
The finished fabric behaves like viscose, because chemically that is what it is. Very little of the plant's own properties survive the process.
That is not a reason to avoid it. Bamboo viscose is smooth, drapes well and handles moisture considerably better than polyester, and since clamminess is what most people describe as sleeping hot, that is genuinely useful.
What it is not is an environmental claim you can check, or an allergy intervention. For the first, lyocell is the fibre whose name describes a verifiable process.
The picks
The pick, if you want one answer
Panda Bamboo Bedding Set, 7.5 / 10. A coherent range built on one fibre, so the sheet, cover and cases behave the same way.
| Product | Best for | From | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Panda Bamboo Bedding Set | Best value set | Budget to mid | 7.5 / 10 |
| Aeyla Bedding | Best range | Mid range | 7.6 / 10 |
| Aeyla Eucalyptus Silk Sheet Set | Best if the process matters to you | Mid range | 7.7 / 10 |
| Aeyla Bamboo Pillowcase | The cheapest way to try it | Budget | 7.6 / 10 |
Panda Bamboo Bedding Set: Best value set
Budget to mid · 7.5 / 10
Scores 7.5. Comfortable and well made, and honest about being a pleasant fabric rather than a technical one. Check the fitted sheet depth against your mattress: modern hybrids run 28 to 35 centimetres and standard sheets are cut for about 25.
Buy it if
You want the smooth drape and moisture handling at a sensible price.
Do not buy it if
The environmental claim is why you are buying.

Aeyla Bedding: Best range
Mid range · 7.6 / 10
Scores 7.6. Built on lyocell rather than bamboo viscose, which is the checkable version of the same argument. Buying within one range matters because a polyester pillowcase over a good sheet undoes most of the benefit.
Buy it if
You want every piece on the bed to behave consistently.
Do not buy it if
You need 60 degree washing for allergies.

Aeyla Eucalyptus Silk Sheet Set: Best if the process matters to you
Mid range · 7.7 / 10
Scores 7.7. Lyocell uses a closed-loop process in which the solvent is recovered and reused, and that is part of the definition rather than a claim. There is no silk in eucalyptus silk: the name describes the handle.
Buy it if
You want the smooth feel with a fibre whose production is verifiable.
Do not buy it if
You want the lowest price.

Aeyla Bamboo Pillowcase: The cheapest way to try it
Budget · 7.6 / 10
Scores 7.6. You sleep on the pillowcase, not the pillow. A single case costs a fraction of a set and tells you within a week whether the fibre is worth buying more of.
Buy it if
You want to find out whether the fabric suits you before replacing a whole bed.
Do not buy it if
Your pillow is the wrong height, in which case fix that first.

Which claims stand up
| Claim | Verdict |
|---|---|
| Smooth, soft, good drape | True. This is what you are paying for. |
| Handles moisture better than polyester | True, and true of lyocell and cotton too. |
| Cooling | Partly. It manages moisture rather than conducting heat away. |
| Naturally antibacterial | Unsupported once the plant has been dissolved into viscose. |
| Hypoallergenic | Unregulated word. Dust mites live in any bedding. |
| Sustainable | Not checkable. The viscose process typically does not recover its chemicals. |
| Bamboo silk | Not silk. The name describes the handle. |
The rows to focus on are the first two. Bamboo bedding is a good fabric being sold on the wrong arguments.
Viscose against lyocell, in one paragraph
Viscose dissolves cellulose in chemicals that are typically not recovered. Lyocell uses a closed-loop process in which the solvent is recovered and reused, and that is part of the definition of the fibre rather than something a brand asserts.
So lyocell is the one fibre name in bedding that tells you about the process. If the environmental argument is why you are buying, that is the word to look for. If the feel is why, both are smooth and both move moisture well, and bamboo viscose is usually cheaper.
Wash it wrong and it stops working
Most complaints about bamboo bedding are laundry problems.
Wash cool, 40 at most and 30 if you can. Tumble low or line dry, since high heat damages the fibre fastest. No fabric softener, which coats the fibre and blocks the moisture handling you paid for. Do not overload the drum, because friction causes pilling.
The conflict worth naming: if anyone in the house has a dust mite allergy, bedding needs washing at 60 degrees, because mites survive 40. Bamboo viscose does not enjoy that. In an allergy household, cotton that tolerates a hot wash beats a nicer fibre you have to treat gently.
What to check before ordering
Fitted sheet depth. Measure your mattress from the top seam to the bottom seam, and add any topper. A 28 centimetre mattress with a 5 centimetre topper needs a 33 centimetre sheet, and preferably more so the fabric folds under.
Duvet size. Buy one size up from the bed. A duvet sized exactly to the mattress leaves nothing hanging over the sides, so it slides off and lets warm air out at the edges.
Pillowcase size. UK pillows are roughly 50 by 75 centimetres, and many pillows sold here are not that size.
Blend percentages. Some sets are bamboo viscose blended with polyester or cotton, and a polyester blend loses much of the moisture handling that is the point.
What not to buy
Bamboo bedding for the environmental claim. Lyocell is the checkable version.
Bamboo bedding for allergies. It is not an intervention, and it does not like 60 degree washing.
Anything described as bamboo silk, expecting silk.
A bamboo viscose and polyester blend, if moisture handling is why you are buying.
Standard depth fitted sheets for a modern hybrid. Measure first.
Also considered, and why they are not here
A roundup is only as useful as what it leaves out, so here is what was assessed and rejected for this list.
| Product | Why it is not on the list |
|---|---|
| Panda Bamboo Protector | Scores 7.5. A fitted protector rather than bedding, and worth knowing that a breathable protector matters more for temperature than any sheet does. |
| Kirkton House Bedding | Good value supermarket bedding. Check the fibre content and the fitted sheet depth rather than the descriptive name on the pack. |
| Soak and Sleep | A retailer rather than a set, and useful because it states fibre, weave and depth clearly, which is what this page says to compare. |
| Bamboo viscose and polyester blends | Sold at the cheap end and common. The polyester is what undoes the moisture handling that is the whole reason to buy the fabric. |
How this list is made, and who made it
Independence
No brand pays to appear on this site and no placement is sold. Some links earn a commission if you buy, which never changes a score, an order or a verdict. Several of the lowest scores here are on products that carry commission, and several recommendations carry none.
Who writes this. Kyle Klinkradt has worked in the mattress and bedding industry for over ten years across retail, distribution and brand partnerships, and has handled, sold or assessed products from every major UK bed-in-a-box brand. Every review on this site is written by one person, so the scores mean the same thing from page to page.
What the assessment is. Construction specifications against what they physically do: spring height and where in the mattress it sits, spring count for the size, gauge, whether the base is sprung or foam, foam density where it is published, comfort layer depth and material. Then the commercial terms that decide what you are actually buying: trial against returns policy, guarantee length against the company's UK trading history at Companies House, and the regulatory record.
What it is not. This is not a laboratory. I do not publish pressure-mapping data or claim to have slept eight years on every mattress here, because nobody has and pages that imply otherwise are not telling you the truth. Where a judgement rests on construction rather than long-term use, the review says so.
What gets a product removed. Leaving the UK market, a specification change that makes the review inaccurate, or a corrected fact. Brands that have withdrawn are kept on the site with the score removed rather than quietly deleted, because people still search for them.

How these were chosen
Every product here has its own review on this site with a score out of 10, and the score is a judgement rather than an average. Nothing appears in a list because it pays more.
A score is against the market, not against its own range. The cheapest mattress in a lineup is usually priced to make the model above it look reasonable, and the flagship of a budget range has risen into a bracket where better brands compete. Both are judged against what else you could buy for the money.
Everything listed can actually be bought in the UK. That is not a given: Casper withdrew in July 2020 and Leesa no longer sells here, and both still appear in current British roundups with affiliate links attached.
I do not pad the list. Where only three or four products genuinely qualify, there are three or four. A list of seven when the category contains four good ones is a list with three bad recommendations in it.
Prices move constantly. Judge the cash price on the day rather than any percentage beside it. See every review on this site or where the real savings are.
Questions people ask
Is bamboo bedding actually made from bamboo?
It starts as bamboo and is processed into bamboo viscose: cellulose dissolved in chemicals and extruded as fibre. The finished fabric behaves like viscose, because chemically that is what it is.
Is bamboo bedding cooling?
It manages moisture rather than conducting heat away, and clamminess is what most people describe as sleeping hot, so it helps with that. For genuine heat, a lower tog duvet does more.
Is bamboo bedding good for allergies?
No. Hypoallergenic is an unregulated word and dust mites live in any bedding. Bedding for dust mite allergy needs washing at 60 degrees, and bamboo viscose does not tolerate that well.
How should I wash bamboo bedding?
Cool, at 40 at most and 30 if you can, tumble low or line dry, no fabric softener, and do not overload the drum. Fabric softener coats the fibre and blocks the moisture handling you paid for.
