Mela's Eucalyptus Range which launched at the end of last year is set to make waves in the UK bedding sector. Mela is a company that stands behind giving back and sustainability. The eucalyptus they use is sourced from renewable forests in Austria and the Czech Republic where they regrow everything they harvest.
Why Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus as a material is also commonly known in the bedding sector as Tencel Lyocell which ultimately is made from the pulp of eucalyptus trees. Along with bamboo (which is also a popular material used), eucalyptus trees grow incredibly fast, are cut during harvesting as opposed to uprooted and require up to 10x less water than cotton to grow.
Eucalyptus is naturally cool, because of its unique fibre structure it helps pull away moisture from your skin which can then be evaporated from the surface of the material. Doing a bit of research, we found that it absorbs up to 50% more moisture than its cotton counterpart.
Eucalyptus lyocell is naturally hypoallergenic and is silky soft making it a great option for those with sensitive skin.
