Inofia Original Collection Mattress Review
A collection called Original, which is the single most misleading word in mattress naming.

Verdict
A collection called Original, which is the single most misleading word in mattress naming. It sounds like a brand's core product and across this market it frequently describes something either below or beside the range's actual centre.

The scores
A sound budget hybrid carrying the most misleading word in mattress naming.
Depth and a spring core at budget pricing, which is Inofia's strength.
Adequate at average build. Not a mattress for heavier sleepers.
A spring layer handles heat better than budget foam would.
No reinforcement claimed, which is normal at this price.
Pocketed springs with foam above.
Shorter terms and a shorter UK trading history than established brands.
Original is the most misleading word in mattress naming
The clearest example in the UK market
Emma's Original Lite at 199 pounds has a three-zone pocket spring layer.
Emma's Original at 369 pounds is all foam, with no springs.
So the cheaper model with Lite in the name is a hybrid, and the one called Original is not. Nothing in the naming tells you, and Original sounds like the definitive product rather than a mid-range foam model.
The pattern repeats across the market. Original, Classic, Essential and Core all sound like a brand's central product and describe range position rather than construction.
So does the other end. Pro, Plus, Elite and Premium describe where a model sits relative to its stablemates and nothing about how it is built.
Compare depth, spring count and firmness. Those three describe a mattress. Model names describe a price ladder.
How to shop this range
Inofia sells the Elegant, Elegant Plus, Elegant Pro, Cloud-Lux, Aire, LUXE and Original collections, most within about sixty pounds of each other, and the differences are not clearly documented anywhere.
If two Inofia mattresses have the same depth, spring count and firmness and different names, the difference is the cover and you should buy the cheaper one.
Inofia is at its best at the bottom of its range, where 27 centimetres and a genuine spring core for around 210 pounds is competitive with mattresses priced at 350. At the top, the price has risen into a bracket where Origin and Otty compete directly, and they win.
A correction worth making
Commonly repeated, and wrong
Model names containing Original, Classic, Essential or Core are read as a brand's central or definitive product, and they describe range position rather than construction. The clearest example in the UK market is Emma, where the Original Lite at 199 pounds contains a three-zone pocket spring layer and the Original at 369 pounds is all foam. Depth, spring count and firmness describe a mattress; model names describe a price ladder.
Should you buy it?
Yes for a spare room, a rental or a tight budget, once you have compared it against the other Inofia collections on numbers rather than names.
For a main bed, Origin's Hybrid at 265 pounds gives you up to 3,000 springs and a 200 day trial.
Questions people ask
Does Original mean a brand's best mattress?

On depth, spring count and firmness. Those three describe a mattress. Original, Classic, Essential, Pro, Plus and Elite all describe a price ladder.
