Verdict

6.9/ 10From £2795 UK single, before discount

Two thousand seven hundred and ninety-five pounds. At that price a mattress is competing with hand-made British pocket sprung beds from manufacturers who have been trading for a century, and the company selling this one has operated under its current legal entity since 2023. The construction does not answer that.

Buy it if

You have found it at an extraordinary discount and you are relying entirely on your statutory rights.

Avoid it if

Almost everyone. At this budget, established British bedmakers are a fundamentally different proposition.

The scores

Overall
6.9 / 10

A good mattress at a price where good is not the standard.

Value
3 / 10

The lowest value score on this site. Origin's LumbarCloud is 797 pounds.

Support
8 / 10

The construction is genuinely premium and not in question.

Temperature
8 / 10

Deep build with good materials.

Edge support
7 / 10

Reasonable. At 2,795 pounds I would expect it specified explicitly.

Motion isolation
8 / 10

Premium multi-layer spring construction.

Trial and guarantee
4 / 10

At this price the guarantee is a large part of the purchase, and the 2023 liquidation undermines it.

What 2,795 pounds actually buys in Britain

This is the only mattress on this site where I think the price is not just high but misjudged, so it deserves an explanation rather than a dismissal.

At this budget you are no longer shopping in the bed-in-a-box market. You are competing against manufacturers like Vispring, Hypnos, Harrison Spinks and Millbrook, who hand-build pocket sprung beds in Britain, several of them with more than a century of continuous trading and royal warrants, using natural fillings and offering the kind of guarantee that has already been honoured for decades because the company has existed for decades.

Against that, a boxed hybrid from a company incorporated in 2023 is a difficult argument. Not because the mattress is bad, but because everything else you are paying for at this price is institutional, and the institution is new.

Why the company history matters more at the top

I have made this point across the Brook + Wilde range and it compounds with price.

On a 595 pound mattress, a guarantee is a nice-to-have and your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are adequate protection. Those rights sit with the retailer and run up to six years in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

On a 2,795 pound mattress you are buying an expectation of fifteen or twenty years of service, and six years of statutory protection covers less than half of it. The remainder rests entirely on the manufacturer still being there and still honouring its terms. The original Brook + Wilde entity was liquidated in 2023, which is exactly the event that ends that expectation.

That is why the trial and guarantee score here is a 4 rather than the 5 I gave the rest of the range. Same fact, larger consequence.

A correction worth making

Commonly repeated, and wrong

Premium mattress prices are usually explained in terms of materials and construction, and above roughly 1,500 pounds that stops being the main thing you are paying for. At that level the additional money buys institutional durability: a manufacturer likely to exist and honour its terms in fifteen years, hand-building rather than machine assembly, and a service relationship rather than a transaction. Comparing a premium boxed mattress to a hand-made British bed on layer count misses what the price gap actually represents.

Should you buy it?

No, and this is the clearest no on this site. The mattress is not the problem. The price is asking you to buy institutional confidence from an institution incorporated in 2023.

If you have 2,795 pounds for a mattress, look at established British bedmakers. If you want the best value at any price, Origin's Hybrid Pro at 374 pounds and a refurbished Simba Hybrid Ultra at around 699 will both leave you with well over two thousand pounds.
