Emma Discount Codes

Emma is discounted almost permanently, so the useful question is not whether there is a code but when the sale is at its deepest and whether the cash price beats the alternatives.

I earn a commission if you buy through some links on this page. It never changes what I recommend, and I publish negative verdicts on brands I earn from. Editorial independence.

Short answer

Emma is discounted more or less permanently, so there is no code that beats simply waiting for the headline sale to be at its deepest. The realistic ceiling on an Emma mattress is around half the reference price, and that shows up several times a year. Paying anything close to the full reference price is the mistake to avoid.

Every figure below is a range I have seen rather than a promise. Discounts in this category move constantly, and the point of the table is to tell you what good looks like so you know whether the offer in front of you is worth taking or worth waiting out.

How Emma pricing actually works

Emma runs a high price, high discount model. A mattress carries a reference price, and a large percentage discount is applied against it for most of the year. That is the entire commercial strategy, and understanding it is worth more than any code.

The practical consequence: the number you should care about is the cash price, not the percentage. A 50 percent discount on a mattress whose reference price is inflated is not the same as 50 percent off a competitor's realistic price. When you compare Emma to Otty or Origin, compare what leaves your bank account.

What actually happened with Emma and the CMA

This gets reported wrongly almost everywhere, so here is the accurate version. On 22 May 2026 the High Court confirmed Emma Sleep had broken consumer law through misleading countdown timers, false "high demand" messages and discount claims, and Emma gave binding undertakings not to repeat them. That part Emma admitted.

The separate question of "was/now" reference pricing went to trial, and on 30 July 2026 the High Court rejected the CMA's case. Mr Justice Richards refused to impose the CMA's proposed rule that one mattress must sell at the reference price for every two sold at a discount, finding it was not properly tethered to the law. The CMA then withdrew its 2024 guidance to the online mattress sector. So the common claim that Emma was found to have used fake "was" prices is wrong. It lost on urgency messaging and won on reference pricing.

What you can realistically get off

Emma's own discounts page is the first place to look, because the site-wide sale is usually as good as or better than any third party code. Stacking an extra code on top of the headline sale is possible at some points in the year and blocked at others.

The pattern across a typical year looks like this. Treat it as a guide to timing rather than a promise, because Emma changes the depth of its sale frequently.

When Emma discounts tend to be deepest
PeriodWhat usually happensWorth waiting for?
JanuaryNew Year sale, typically one of the two deepest of the yearYes
Spring bank holidaysModerate, usually below the January levelOnly if you need it now
SummerMid-range, often bundled with free pillows or a protector rather than a deeper cutTake the bundle, not the headline
Black FridayThe other deepest point, and usually the best bundle valueYes
Boxing Day into JanuaryRolls straight into the New Year saleYes

The bundle is usually better than the code

Emma frequently includes pillows, a protector or a duvet with a mattress purchase rather than cutting the price further. Whether that is good value depends entirely on whether you want those items.

My honest view: the Emma pillow is a reasonable product and worth having if it is free. The protector is worth having on any mattress, from any brand, because it is the single cheapest way to protect a guarantee claim. A free duvet is filler. If a bundle is the only thing separating two prices, value the bundle at roughly a third of its stated retail worth and decide from there.

Clearance and refurbished Emma stock

Emma sells clearance and refurbished mattresses, and this is where the genuinely large savings sit. It is also where the catch sits.

A refurbished mattress is typically a trial return that has been inspected and re-covered. The saving can be substantial. What you usually give up is the trial period itself, and sometimes part of the guarantee. Before buying refurbished from any brand, including Emma, check three things: whether the 200 night trial still applies, whether the full guarantee still applies, and what the return route is if it arrives damaged.

If the answer is that you lose the trial, then you are buying a mattress you cannot send back, in a category where firmness is the single hardest thing to predict. For a guest room that is a good trade. For your own bed it usually is not.

Key worker, NHS and student discounts

Emma runs a key worker scheme and a student scheme, each on its own page and each requiring verification. Rates change, so check the current figure rather than trusting a number quoted on a voucher site.

The thing worth knowing is whether these stack with the site-wide sale. Often they do not, and the sale alone is deeper than the scheme discount. Work out both numbers before assuming the scheme is better.

Is an Emma mattress actually a good deal?

At the deepest point of a sale, the Emma Original is competitively priced against other foam mattresses in the UK. At anything approaching the reference price it is not, and there are hybrids at the same money with springs, better edge support and published spring counts.

The strongest argument for Emma is not price. It is the 200 night trial and the fact that the brand is large enough that returns actually work. In a category where you cannot know whether a mattress suits you until you have slept on it for a month, a trial that functions smoothly has real value, and Emma's does.

The weakest argument is the one Emma leans on hardest: the awards. Award coverage in this sector is heavily influenced by which brands participate and pay for entry, and it tells you very little about how a mattress performs at year three.

Before you buy, read the full Emma range review, which scores every current model, and the Emma Original review if that is the one you are looking at.

Applying an Emma code

  1. Add the mattress to your basket on Emma's own site.
  2. Go to the basket and look for the discount code field. It is on the basket page rather than at the final payment step.
  3. Enter the code and apply it before entering any payment details, so you can see the change to the total.
  4. Check the total, not the percentage. If the code has not changed the cash price, it has not stacked with the sale.

If a code does not work, the usual reason is that the site-wide sale already exceeds it and the two cannot be combined. That is not a fault, and the sale price is the better of the two anyway.

Questions people ask

Is there a 20 percent Emma discount code?

Emma's site-wide sale is usually deeper than 20 percent, so a standalone 20 percent code is rarely the best available price. Check Emma's own discounts page first, then compare the cash price against Otty and Origin rather than comparing discount percentages, which are calculated from different reference prices.

Does Emma do an NHS discount?

Emma runs a key worker scheme covering NHS and other frontline roles, with verification required. The rate changes, and it does not always stack with the site-wide sale. Work out both prices before assuming the scheme is cheaper, because the headline sale frequently wins.

Were Emma taken to court over fake discounts?

Partly. In May 2026 the High Court confirmed Emma broke consumer law using misleading countdown timers, false high demand messages and discount claims, which Emma admitted. The separate was/now pricing case went to trial and Emma won it in July 2026, after which the CMA withdrew its mattress pricing guidance.

When is the best time to buy an Emma mattress?

January and Black Friday are consistently the two deepest discount periods, and Boxing Day usually rolls straight into the January sale. Outside those windows the discount is shallower, though bundled pillows and protectors sometimes make a mid-year offer better value than the headline percentage suggests.
