Verdict

6.8/ 10

A pillow from a mattress brand, which is usually a range extension rather than a considered product. This one is decent, and the thing worth checking on any mattress brand's pillow is whether the height can be changed, because that is what decides whether a pillow works.

Buy it if

You want a straightforward foam pillow and you already know what height suits you.

Avoid it if

You do not know your loft. Buy an adjustable pillow and find out, then buy whatever you like at that height.

The scores

Overall
6.8 / 10

A decent foam pillow, and the range it comes from is not the reason to buy it.

Value
7 / 10

Reasonable for a branded foam pillow.

Height retention
8 / 10

The genuine strength of any foam pillow.

Support
7 / 10

Foam holds height consistently, which is the argument for foam.

Temperature
5 / 10

Foam retains heat, and a pillow sits against your face where you notice it.

Adjustability
7 / 10

Limited adjustment. Better than a fixed pillow, short of removable fill.

Washability
5 / 10

Foam is not washable. Only the cover is.

Mattress brands and pillows

Almost every mattress brand sells pillows, and they are usually range extensions rather than products designed from the problem up. That is not a criticism so much as a description of how the category works.

The tell is whether the pillow addresses height. Height is what determines whether your neck continues the line of your spine, and it depends on your sleeping position, your shoulder width and how soft your mattress is. No shelf category captures that combination.

Brands that have thought about it offer adjustability: Simba's adjustable fill, Emma's removable layers, Nanu's made to order. Brands that have not sell soft, medium and firm, which describes the wrong variable.

So the question to ask about any mattress brand's pillow is simply: can I change the height after sleeping on it? If not, you are guessing, and the answer is only as good as your guess.

What foam gets right, and the one thing it does not

Right: consistency. A foam pillow is the same height tonight as last night. Loose fills compress unevenly, migrate to the edges and need plumping, so the height you chose changes across a night and across a year. That is why adjustable pillows are made from foam: you cannot reliably set a height in a material that redistributes itself.

Wrong: heat. Foam has small closed cells and almost no air movement, and a pillow sits directly against your face and neck where warmth is most noticeable.

The cheapest fix is the pillowcase. You are not sleeping on the pillow, you are sleeping on the case, and a polyester case insulates and holds moisture against the skin. Cotton percale or lyocell costs a fraction of the pillow and does more for how cool it feels.

A correction worth making

Commonly repeated, and wrong

Pillows are sold in soft, medium and firm, which describes the wrong variable. Height determines whether the neck continues the line of the spine, and it depends on sleeping position, shoulder width and how soft the mattress underneath is. No shelf category captures that combination, which is why the useful question about any pillow is whether its height can be changed after sleeping on it.

Should you buy it?

Fine if you already know your loft and want a straightforward foam pillow.

If you do not, buy an adjustable pillow, find out what height suits you with the ten minute test, and then buy whatever fill you prefer at that height. And change the pillowcase whatever you buy.

Questions people ask

What should I ask about any pillow?

Whether the height can be changed after sleeping on it. Height decides whether your neck continues the line of your spine, and it depends on position, shoulder width and mattress firmness. If it cannot be changed, you are guessing.

Are foam pillows good?

They get consistency right: the same height tonight as last night, where loose fills compress unevenly and need plumping. That is why adjustable pillows are made from foam. They get heat wrong, and the cheapest fix is the pillowcase.
