The upper end of Inofia's Elegant collection, and the model that makes the range-naming point most clearly.

Verdict

6.5/ 10

The upper end of Inofia's Elegant collection, and the model that makes the range-naming point most clearly. Elegant, Elegant Plus and Elegant Pro sit within about sixty pounds of each other and the differences are not documented anywhere useful.

Buy it if

You have compared the three Elegant models on depth, spring count and firmness, and this one won on those numbers.

Avoid it if

You are choosing on the word Pro. It describes position in a range rather than construction.

The scores

Overall
6.5 / 10

A sound budget hybrid whose position in the range is clearer than its specification.

Value
8 / 10

Competitive depth and a spring core at budget pricing.

Support
6 / 10

Adequate at average build. Not a mattress for heavier sleepers.

Temperature
7 / 10

A spring layer handles heat better than budget foam would.

Edge support
5 / 10

No reinforcement claimed, which is normal at this price.

Motion isolation
7 / 10

Pocketed springs with foam above.

Trial and guarantee
5 / 10

Shorter terms and a shorter UK trading history than established brands.

Pro, Plus and Elite describe position, not construction

Inofia sells the Elegant, Elegant Plus, Elegant Pro, Cloud-Lux, Aire, LUXE and Original collections, most within about sixty pounds of each other, and the differences are not clearly explained anywhere.

Compare three numbers and ignore the names: depth, spring count where stated, and firmness. If two Inofia mattresses have the same three numbers and different names, the difference is the cover.

This is how budget ranges are built everywhere, because creating apparent choice costs less than creating actual differentiation.

Words like Pro, Plus, Elite and Premium are range positions rather than specifications. They tell you where a model sits relative to its stablemates and nothing about how it is built.

The clearest illustration anywhere in this market is Emma's range. The Original Lite at 199 pounds has a three-zone pocket spring layer. The Original at 369 pounds is all foam. The word Lite sounds like less and delivers more, because the naming describes marketing position rather than construction.

What you accept at this price

Worth setting out plainly rather than either recommending uncritically or dismissing.

A shorter trading history. Inofia has not been in the UK as long as Ergoflex, Silentnight or Otty. On a long guarantee that matters.

Weaker edges. Budget hybrids almost never reinforce the perimeter, because it is a real manufacturing cost.

Less support headroom. Fine at average build, marginal above about fifteen stone.

What you get in return is depth and a genuine spring core for the price of a cheap foam mattress. For a spare room, a rental or a first flat, that is a good trade.

A correction worth making

Commonly repeated, and wrong

Range position words such as Pro, Plus, Elite and Premium are marketing labels rather than specifications, describing where a model sits relative to its stablemates and nothing about how it is built. The clearest illustration is Emma's range, where the Original Lite at 199 pounds contains a three-zone pocket spring layer and the Original at 369 pounds is all foam. Compare depth, spring count and firmness instead.

Should you buy it?

Yes for a spare room, a rental or a tight budget, provided you compared the three Elegant models on numbers rather than names.

For a main bed, Origin's Hybrid at 265 pounds gives you up to 3,000 springs and a 200 day trial.

Questions people ask

Do words like Pro and Plus mean a better mattress?

They describe where a model sits relative to its stablemates, not how it is built. The clearest example is Emma's range: the Original Lite at 199 pounds has a three-zone spring layer and the Original at 369 is all foam.

How do I compare Inofia collections?

Compare three numbers and ignore the names: depth, spring count where stated, and firmness. If two models match on all three, the difference is the cover.
