Inofia Aire Collection Mattress Review
A range sold on airflow, which in foam usually means channels cut through the material. That helps, and far less than the marketing implies.

Verdict
A range sold on airflow, which in foam usually means channels or perforations cut through the material. That does help, and it helps far less than the marketing implies, because air has to be moving for a channel to do anything.
Buy it if
You want a budget foam mattress and the ventilation is a bonus rather than the reason.
Avoid it if
Heat is the problem you are trying to solve. Cut channels are not the same as an open structure.

| Typical construction | Channels or perforations cut through the foam layers |

The scores
A reasonable budget foam mattress with a ventilation story that is half true.
Cheap, and so is every foam mattress at this level.
Budget foam construction with no spring core.
Better than solid foam, well short of a spring layer.
No perimeter reinforcement.
Foam does this well, and it is the genuine strength.
Shorter terms and a shorter UK trading history than the established brands.
Cut channels help, and they need something to drive them
Ventilated foam works by cutting channels or punching perforations through the material, creating physical paths for air that solid foam does not have.
That is real. A foam block with holes through it will move more air than one without.
The limitation is that a channel is a path, not a pump. Air moves through it when something drives it: your body weight compressing and releasing the foam as you shift position, or a pressure difference across the mattress. Lie still on a ventilated foam mattress and very little happens.
Compare that with a pocket spring layer, where the gaps between springs are large, open and continuous, and where the whole structure flexes with every movement. Or an open grid, where the comfort layer is mostly empty space.
So the ordering is: solid foam worst, ventilated foam better, spring layer better again, open grid best. Ventilated foam is a genuine step up from a foam slab and it is not a substitute for structure.
If heat is your actual problem
Buy structure, not treatment
Heat leaves a mattress when air moves through it, and that needs open structure rather than surface chemistry.
A deep pocket spring layer. Otty's 16 centimetre spring core at around £500 is the clearest example at a sensible price.
An open grid. Purple's comfort layer is mostly empty space, which earns the only 10 out of 10 for temperature on this site.
Natural fibres. Wool and lyocell manage moisture, and clamminess is usually what people mean by sleeping hot.
And before any of that, change your pillowcase and check your duvet tog. Both cost a fraction of a mattress and both are more often the cause than people expect.
How to compare within Inofia's range
Inofia sells the Elegant, Elegant Plus, Elegant Pro, Cloud-Lux, Aire, LUXE and Original collections, most within about sixty pounds of each other, and the differences are not clearly explained anywhere.
Ignore the collection names and compare three numbers: depth, spring count where it is stated, and firmness. If two Inofia mattresses have the same three numbers and different names, the difference is the cover.
This is not unique to Inofia. It is how budget ranges are built everywhere, because creating apparent choice costs less than creating actual differentiation.
A correction worth making
Commonly repeated, and wrong
Ventilated foam is marketed as a cooling technology, and the channels cut through it are paths rather than pumps. Air moves through them only when something drives it, such as your body compressing and releasing the foam as you shift position. Lying still, very little happens. That makes ventilated foam a genuine improvement on a solid foam slab and not a substitute for an open structure such as a pocket spring layer, where the gaps are large, continuous and flex with every movement.
Should you buy it?
Yes as a cheap foam mattress for a spare room or a rental, where the ventilation is a small bonus.
No if heat is what you are trying to fix. For fifty-five pounds more, Origin's Hybrid gives you 26 centimetres and up to 3,000 pocket springs, which is a different category of airflow entirely.
Questions people ask
Does ventilated foam keep you cool?
It moves more air than solid foam, which is real. The limitation is that a channel is a path rather than a pump: air moves through it only when something drives it, such as your body compressing the foam as you shift. Lying still, very little happens.
What actually cools a mattress?
Open structure. A deep pocket spring layer, where the gaps are large, continuous and flex with every movement, or an open grid where the comfort layer is mostly empty space. Ventilated foam sits between solid foam and a spring layer.
How do I compare Inofia collections?
Ignore the names and compare three numbers: depth, spring count where stated, and firmness. If two Inofia mattresses have the same three numbers and different names, the difference is the cover.
