How the grid actually works
Every other comfort layer in this category works one of two ways. Foam compresses under load and pushes back. Springs compress under load and push back. Both trade support against pressure relief: softer means less pressure and less support, firmer means the reverse.
Purple's grid is a hyper-elastic polymer formed into a lattice of walls. Under moderate load the walls hold and behave firmly. Under concentrated load, at a shoulder or a hip, the walls buckle sideways rather than compressing, so that specific area gives way while the surrounding grid stays supportive.
