Why the Sealy name tells you very little
This applies to several large bed brands and Sealy is the clearest case.
The range spans entry-level open coil mattresses that would score around 5 on this site and premium zoned pocket sprung ones that would score around 8. Both carry the same name, the same advertising and often the same shop floor.
So a recommendation to buy Sealy is not useful information. What matters is which Sealy, and specifically two things: whether it is pocket sprung or open coil, and whether it has zoned support.
Open coil means the springs are linked, so movement travels across the bed. If you share a bed, that alone should rule it out, and it applies to entry-level ranges from every large manufacturer, not just this one.
What Posturepedic zoning means
Posturepedic is Sealy's zoned support system, and zoning is one of the few mattress technologies where the marketing and the physics genuinely align.
A zoned spring unit varies spring gauge along the length of the mattress: firmer under the lumbar region, more giving under the shoulder and hip. That lets one mattress hold your waist up while letting your shoulder sink, which is what a side sleeper needs and an unzoned mattress cannot do at a single firmness.
Where a Sealy has genuine zoning and pocket springs, it is a good mattress. Where it does not, it is an ordinary one at a recognisable brand's price. Check the specification rather than the badge.

Large bed brands are recommended and compared as though the name describes a quality level, and for manufacturers with very broad ranges it does not. Sealy sells entry-level open coil mattresses and premium zoned pocket sprung ones under one name, with the same advertising behind both. A recommendation to buy a brand is close to meaningless in this category. The questions that matter are whether the springs are pocketed or linked, and whether the support is zoned.
Should you buy it?
Yes for the mid and upper pocket sprung ranges with genuine Posturepedic zoning, ideally having lain on one first.
No for the entry-level open coil models, particularly if you share a bed. Linked springs transmit movement across the whole mattress and that is the wrong purchase at almost any price.
