Simba Bed Frame Review
A frame from a mattress brand, and the genuine argument for buying both from one place is not aesthetic.

Verdict
A frame from a mattress brand, and the genuine argument for buying both from one place is not aesthetic. It is that the frame is specified for the mattress, which removes the most common hidden reason a mattress guarantee gets refused.
Buy it if
You are buying a Simba mattress and want a frame specified alongside it in UK sizes.
Avoid it if
You need storage, or you want a frame to outlast several mattresses. A solid timber frame does that better.

The scores
A sensible pairing purchase, and not the longest-lived frame you could buy.
UK sizes, which matters more than people realise.
Adequate. Solid timber frames hold a fixing better over decades.
Specified alongside deep modern mattresses, which removes a real risk.
Real storage rather than a token drawer.
Simple assembly with fixings that can be retightened.
Strong terms from a seller with the scale to honour them.
The reason to buy frame and mattress together
Your frame can void your mattress guarantee
Most modern mattress guarantees require slats no more than about 7.5 centimetres apart. Wider gaps are a common exclusion and manufacturers do enforce it.
They also cause the problem: the mattress sags between the slats, producing exactly the body impressions the guarantee would have covered.
Frames and mattresses are usually bought separately, often years apart, and nobody raises the interaction at either point of sale because at neither point is it that seller's problem.
A frame specified by the mattress manufacturer removes that risk entirely, which is the practical argument for buying both together. It is worth more than the styling.
If you have a frame already, measure the gaps before ordering a mattress. Too wide, and a sheet of plywood or a slat conversion is a cheap fix compared with an unclaimable mattress.
What separates a frame that lasts five years from one that lasts thirty
Most flat-pack frames use cam locks into particleboard or MDF.
Cam locks loosen, and particleboard does not hold a screw a second time, so once a joint works loose it tends to stay loose. A creaking bed is almost always a frame problem rather than a mattress one, and if yours creaks, tighten every fixing before considering anything else.
A hard material bolted together can be tightened indefinitely. Solid timber is the material that turns a five year frame into a thirty year one, and it is worth checking what a frame is made of and how it fastens before ordering.
A frame is the longest-lived thing in most bedrooms, or it should be. Expect a good one to outlast two or three mattresses and judge the price over that period.
Check the finished height
Modern hybrids run 28 to 34 centimetres deep, and some reach 35. A frame designed around a 20 centimetre mattress puts the sleeping surface higher than expected and leaves low side rails doing nothing.
Add the frame deck height to your mattress depth. Somewhere around 55 to 65 centimetres to the top of the mattress suits most adults: too high is awkward to get into, too low is harder to get out of, which matters more with age than people anticipate.
Thirty seconds with a tape measure against your current bed answers this, because you already know whether that height suits you.
A correction worth making
Commonly repeated, and wrong
Bed frames are chosen on appearance and price, and the specification that most affects the mattress is slat spacing. Most manufacturers require slats no more than about 7.5 centimetres apart, wider gaps both void the guarantee and cause the sagging it would have covered, and frames and mattresses are usually bought separately and years apart from different sellers. Nobody raises the interaction at either point of sale.
Should you buy it?
Yes if you are buying a Simba mattress and want a frame specified to match it, which removes a real and commonly missed risk.
If you want a frame to outlast several mattresses, a solid timber one bolted together will do it better. If you need storage, an ottoman base uses the whole footprint of the bed.
Questions people ask
Why buy a bed frame from my mattress brand?
Because slat spacing is one of the most common grounds for refusing a mattress guarantee claim, and frames and mattresses are usually bought separately and years apart. A frame specified by the mattress manufacturer removes that risk.
What makes a bed frame last?
Material and fastening. Cam locks loosen and particleboard does not hold a screw a second time, so once a joint works loose it stays loose. A hard material bolted together can be tightened indefinitely.
