How to check whether a bundle is worth it
Bundles are a legitimate way to sell and they are also a way to make a price comparison harder. One check settles it.
Find the price of the same mattress without the extras. Subtract it from the bundle price. That difference is what you are paying for the pillows and protector. Then ask whether you would pay that for them separately.
Frequently the answer is yes, because bundled bedding is genuinely discounted. Sometimes the mattress alone is not offered at all, which is information in itself.
Two things worth knowing whatever the answer. A protector in a bundle is worth having, because a stain voids most mattress guarantees and the probability of one over eight years is high. A fixed-height pillow in a bundle is a guess, because height is what decides whether a pillow works and nobody can specify yours in advance.
If you do not know your loft, find out first
Lie in the position you actually sleep in for ten minutes so the pillow settles, then have someone look at you from behind. Your neck should be a straight continuation of your spine: tipped up means too high, dropped means too low.
Two involuntary signals are more reliable than any of this. If you habitually put an arm under your pillow, it is too low. If you wake having pushed it aside, it is too high.
And re-run the test when the new mattress arrives, because a softer mattress lets your shoulder sink further and you need less pillow height. That is the most common reason a pillow that worked for years suddenly does not.
You are not sleeping on the pillow, you are sleeping on the case. A cheap polyester case insulates and holds moisture against the skin, which is what people actually experience as sleeping hot.
