Eve Original Mattress Review
Eve's all-foam mattress at a list price where competitors sell serious hybrids.

Verdict
Eve's all-foam mattress at a list price where competitors sell serious hybrids. Twenty-eight centimetres of foam in three layers is a lot of foam and not a lot of mattress for the money, and it only becomes reasonable at the deep discounts Eve runs continuously.
Buy it if
You specifically want foam for the motion isolation, and you have found it at 50 per cent off.
Avoid it if
You sleep hot, you sit on the edge, or you are paying anywhere near list price.

The scores
An ordinary foam mattress carrying a list price that only the discount makes sensible.
Six hundred and ninety-nine pounds for foam when Origin sells 3,000 pocket springs at 265.
Twenty-eight centimetres is a lot of foam to compress. Fine at average build.
All foam with no named airflow structure. It will run warm.
No perimeter reinforcement. The standard all-foam limitation.
Twenty-eight centimetres of foam. Very little transmits, and this is the reason to buy it.
200 nights, discounted by the ownership history.
The Eve situation
Eve is owned by Bensons now
Eve entered administration in October 2022 and the brand now trades under Bensonsforbedsretail Ltd. Buying new means buying from Bensons, which is large and established.
If you own a pre-2022 Eve, guarantees do not automatically survive an administration. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 sit with the retailer who sold it to you, not the brand, and run up to six years in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
When foam is genuinely the right choice
I recommend hybrids repeatedly across this site, so it is worth being clear about when foam wins, because it does.
Deep foam beats any sprung mattress on motion isolation. If your partner gets up at five, or moves constantly, or a child climbs in at three in the morning, 28 centimetres of foam absorbs that movement in a way springs cannot. No hybrid at any price matches it on this measure.
That is a real and specific reason to choose this mattress. If it describes your situation, the heat and edge compromises may well be worth accepting.
If it does not describe your situation, you are paying £699 list for the one thing foam does well and giving up everything springs do.
Judge it at the discount
Eve runs 40 to 50 per cent cuts continuously, taking this to roughly £419.
At that price it becomes a reasonable deep foam mattress. At £699 list it is competing against Otty's Pure Pro at £539.99 with up to 3,000 tall pocket springs, and losing badly.
Any review ranking Eve against other brands using list prices is telling you nothing about the market.
A correction worth making
Commonly repeated, and wrong
All-foam mattresses are frequently described as inferior to hybrids across buying guides, and on one measure they are clearly better. Deep foam absorbs movement in a way no sprung mattress matches, because there is no mechanical linkage between one part of the surface and another. If a restless partner is the problem you are trying to solve, foam is the correct answer and a hybrid is not, whatever the spring count.
Should you buy it?
Only at a deep discount, and only if motion isolation is your specific problem. At around £419 it is a sound deep foam mattress.
At list price, no. If you want foam done properly, Ergoflex publishes its foam density and has traded since 2006. See the Eve range review for what to buy instead.
Questions people ask
Is the Eve Original worth it?
Only at a deep discount. Eve runs 40 to 50 per cent cuts continuously, taking it to roughly 419 pounds, where it becomes a sound deep foam mattress. At 699 list it competes against Otty's Pure Pro at 539.99 with up to 3,000 tall pocket springs.
Is foam ever better than a hybrid?
On motion isolation, clearly. Twenty-eight centimetres of foam absorbs a restless partner's movement in a way no sprung mattress at any price matches, because there is no mechanical linkage between one part of the surface and another.
