In this Simba Weighted Blanket Review, we will be covering the materials used, how the weighted blanket works and who it is designed for. This means that we will also mention who should not use this blanket,.

The Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket uses what Simba have called Nano-Bead technology as the weight in the blanket. We will unpack the weighted layer and other elements of the design as we go through this in-depth review.

Simba Weighted Blanket Construction

The Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket is made using nano-bead technology as the weight and is finished in a 100% cotton cover. The blanket is split into 2 parts, the inner weighted shell and the outer cover.

Nano-Bead technology is a fancy term but it simply means it is made using glass beads. These weighted beads sit in the centre of the blanket. The glass beads are held in evenly filled, quilted pockets. This means that the blanket will have an even distribution of weight, or the glass beads, at all times. The evenly filled, quilted pockets also allow for even pressure to be applied to you as you sleep, with all parts of your body receiving the same pressure or weight.

The nano-bead technology layer was designed to relieve pressure by softly hugging your body, evenly. This is thanks to the evenly filled pockets whereas the soft property comes from the cotton shell surrounding the glass bead pockets. The glass beads, as they hug your body, stimulate a process known as “deep pressure therapy✓”. This process is described as helping your nervous system switch from “fight or flight” to “Rest and relax”. This was designed to help restless sleepers and those who struggle to sleep because of stress or anxiety. The process was engineered to relax your muscles, regulate your heartbeat and set your mind at ease.

Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket Materials

To be more specific about the materials used in the Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket, we have added this section. The materials used in this weighted blanket are:

  • 100% cotton cover
  • Glass nano-beads, evenly filled into quilted pockets

Simba Weighted Blanket Cover

The Simba Weighted Blanket is wrapped in a 100% cotton cover. A key feature of the cover is that it is removable and machine washable. Another key feature of the cover is that it is designed to be breathable, this means that it allows for airflow through the material. This is essential in a weighted blanket, as there are some claims about the heat retention associated with weighted blankets. However, thanks to the breathable cover, the hot air is designed to flow right through the material and move away from your body.

Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket Design & Fit

Thanks to the evenly filled and quilted pockets, in which the glass beads sit, this blanket has even pressure across the entire surface.

A weighted blanket is designed to help certain sleepers but is also not recommended for some sleepers. The Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket was designed for those with stress, anxiety, restlessness or trouble falling asleep.

If you are pregnant, have circulatory problems such as diabetes or have respiratory problems then the Simba Weighted Blanket is not recommended for you. Simba advise that those with the medical issues listed above or issues related to the above should consult their medical practitioner before using a weighted blanket.

Should I Buy A Simba Weighted Blanket?

The Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket was designed to assist restless sleepers, those with anxiety or stress and those who struggle to switch off before bed.

This is done using Nano-Bead technology, which is a layer of evenly filled, quilted pockets that contain glass beads. The beads hug your body gently and thanks to a 100% cotton cover the blanket softly cradles your body. The cover is removable, washable and even breathable so you won’t be heating up.

We would recommend the Simba Weighted Blanket to those looking for :

  • A weighted blanket with even distribution of weight and no clumping.
  • A weighted blanket with a removable, washable and breathable cover.
  • A weighted blanket designed to stimulate Deep Pressure Therapy.
