As the mattress in a box market becomes more competitive, brands are now introducing additional models to separate themselves and to target a new audience. Simba's response is the Simba Luxe Mattress.
Our most advanced mattress ever.
This luxury mattress features an incredible 8 internal layers with a top and bottom cover, which is why Simba describe this mattress as having 10 layers.
In this Simba Luxe Mattress review, we will unpack each layer, look at the materials used and compare it to the other Simba Mattress models, so you can best decide which would be best suited to you.
Simba Hybrid Luxe Mattress Construction
Simba has always been a brand that introduces new materials and designs into its products. This is evident in their Simba Hybrid Pillow which includes phase change technology, the Simba Mattress Topper which has a hybrid design and the Simba Duvet made with semiconducting minerals.
Simba's brand strategy seems to be developing envelope-pushing and almost futuristic products which they have now extended their mattress range and released 'their most advanced mattress' the Simba Hybrid Luxe Mattress.
As mentioned in the name the Simba Hybrid Luxe Mattress follows a hybrid mattress design. This encompasses the bounce and stability of springs as well as the comfort and pressure relieving properties of the foam. This is often regarded as 'the best of both worlds'.
After doing some research into this Simba Luxe Mattress review, we found all foams used in the Simba Luxe Mattress received the CertiPUR label. This is a certification programme that addresses the environment, health and safety properties of polyurethane foam. Meeting these requirements means there aren't any ozone destructive agents, heavy metals, mercury or lead used in the manufacture of the foam.
Mattresses in the UK need to meet fire safety regulations. Simba explains that many foams used in other brand's mattresses include TCPP and other chemicals and pollutants to meet these fire regulations.
Simba's response to these planet harming chemicals is their 'Simba-Pure' foam which has been developed after years of research. This foam also meets UK fire safety regulations. If you are concerned about mattress chemicals then you can always opt for a natural or organic mattress.
The Simba Luxe Mattress as well as the other models are all made in Europe and they work with mattress factories in the UK.
The Simba Luxe Mattress is wrapped in a 750g hypoallergenic knitted cover. One of the biggest cons of the original Simba Mattress is that the cover is not removable and washable. By taking in customer feedback Simba has now made the Simba Luxe's cover removable and washable, be sure to read the instructions that are included. This is exclusive to the Luxe model.
Adding this feature makes cleaning a mattress easy and more practical.
Even if covers are washable, you should always consider a mattress protector, which may help prolong the life of a mattress.
Simba has also included 8 handles onto the Luxe's cover for easy manoeuvring, but keep in mind these handles are excluded on the single and small double sizes.
Simba Luxe Mattress Layers
As described at the beginning of this Simba Luxe Mattress review, the mattress is made up of 8 internal layers and a cover that is split into a top and bottom half. This is why you will see Simba promoting it as 10 layers.
1. Bamboo Wool Layer
This layer is exclusive to the Simba Luxe Mattress. It is a 100% bamboo heat-regulating wool layer. Bamboo textile✓ is said to be antimicrobial, soft feeling, moisture-absorbing and anti-static in nature.
2. Open-Cell Simba-Pure Foam
This is an open-cell designed foam, this is very common in foam-based mattresses as it traditionally includes larger airspace in the foam which allows for more air to flow through. Simba has infused this layer with graphite for cooling, these graphite particles are used to filter heat away from the layer.
3. Double Aerocoil Spring Layer
Here we have another layer that is exclusive to the Simba Hybrid Luxe Mattress. This is a double layer of 25mm conical mini springs, Simba calls it their Aerocoil® springs.
They are conical in shape which means they are cone-shaped and can therefore reduce to the actual thickness of the wire.
There are up to 5,000 of these mini springs in the Simba Luxe Mattress, the exact amount will depend on the size of the mattress.
4. High-Definition Simba-Pure Foam
This is one of the two high-definition foams that Simba incorporate into the mattress design to help transition the layers in a smoother way and create seamless support and comfort.
This foam also follows the Simba-Pure make-up which Simba describe as being better for the planet.
5. Carbon Steel Spring Layer
A layer of carbon steel springs is incorporated to add additional bounce. This spring layer is made from 40mm high springs and you can find up to 1,000 of these in a Simba Luxe Mattress. These spring are manufactured in Leeds and are enclosed in a polyester pocket to protect and better support the surrounding layers.
These are not quite full-sized springs, so they may not be as supportive and bouncy as a traditional sprung mattress. If you are used to sleeping on a traditional pocket sprung mattress then you may need time to get used to the Simba Luxe.
This layer is also exclusive only to the Simba Luxe Mattress.
6. High-Definition Simba-Pure Foam
Here you will find the second high-definition Simba-Pure foam which as mentioned before, seem to be used as a transition layer between the spring and foam layers.
7. Zoned Support Base Foam
Finally, you will find the dense base support foam. This layer is castellated or as Simba call it 'zoned'. This means there are cut out channels around the hip and shoulder areas. This helps to promote correct spinal alignment, which is especially important when looking for a mattress for side sleepers.
It is important to note that the more additional layers you have above a castellated base the less effective the channels will be.
How Thick Is the Simba Luxe Mattress?
The Simba Luxe Mattress has a total depth of 31cm, this is much thicker than the standard 25cm which you may find. Bear in mind with this thickness you may need deep fitted sheets.
This mattress can also hold up to 18 stone or 114kg per person. The thickness also helps with support especially if you are looking for a mattress for heavy persons.
Simba Luxe Mattress Compared
The Simba brand has a range of mattresses, more than you may think. Simba also uses third-party platforms to promote mattresses exclusively there.
Their most awarded mattress is the original Simba Mattress (5 layers) this mattress has been around the longest and garnered thousands of customer reviews, it is also one of the best mattresses in the UK, this you could say is their tried and trusted model. The Simba Pro Mattress (7 layers) is described as their most popular mattress which is difficult to believe as the standard Simba has been around the longest. The Pro model was their first attempt to create a luxury mattress by adding some additional layers.
The major difference between the Simba Luxe Mattress is the added spring layer(s), its bamboo wool layer and a new cover that can now be removed and washed.
Below you can find more information on the following models:
- Simba Mattress
- Simba Pro Mattress
- Simba Premium Seven-Zone Mattress
- Simba Comfort Foam Mattress
- Simba Bunk Bed Mattress
You will find some of these models will be cheaper mattresses as they use fewer layers and material in general. So if the price is a major factor then browsing through other models may be worth your time.
Simba Luxe Mattress Firmness
In this Simba Luxe Mattress review, firmness is a difficult aspect to cover as it is subjective. However, the Simba Luxe Mattress is described as a medium-firm mattress. By creating a mattress in this firmness range they can expect to reach the majority of UK sleepers. Some research suggests that medium-firm mattresses are best for back pain.
Finally, you can expect an incremental bounce effect from the Simba Luxe Mattress as opposed to the other Simba models because of the added spring layer.
The Simba Hybrid Luxe Mattress follows the same design as the other models. We would have expected to see some sort of differentiation as you will be paying more for the Luxe model.
Because of the layer construction, the Simba Luxe is not made to be flipped, but you will need to rotate it regularly (180 degrees) every month for the first 3 months and then every 3-6 months thereafter. Be sure to keep this in mind as it is a condition of the warranty. Luckily most sizes include handles that help with the process.
Simba Luxe Mattress Trial Period and Guarantee
Mattresses that come with trials are among the most intriguing mattresses sold in the UK market, Simba is one of the most popular and well-known of them.
The Simba Luxe Mattress comes with a 200-night trial (the trial starts once it arrives). This gives the buyer months to try it out and possibly in a variety of weather conditions. We always recommend trying it out for at least 3 weeks to fully experience a new mattress. This is because our bodies can get used to our current mattress, which makes it difficult when trialling a brand new mattress.
If you are not perfectly satisfied with the mattress within the trial period you can contact Simba and they will collect it and offer a full refund.
On top of this, the Simba Luxe Mattress comes with a 10-year guarantee to confirm its workmanship. make sure to read all the fine print to fully understand the guarantee.
Simba Luxe Mattress Delivery
The mattress is delivered within 5 business days, of course, this may change depending on demand so make sure to double-check the delivery times before purchasing.
The mattress arrives rolled, vacuum-sealed and boxed. This is especially useful if you need to move it up the stairs or into other parts of the house. We recommend you try to remove the mattress as soon as possible from the box to avoid any defects from forming.

Simba Luxe Mattress Customer Reviews
As it is a new release there aren't many customer reviews to be found. What you can do to get a better idea is to look at the customer reviews both on the Simba website and through Amazon, using the search function 'Luxe' you can filter the reviews specific to this mattress.
Be attentive to the date of the reviews as the 'Simba Luxe Mattress' (different mattress altogether) was a model released a few years ago but then ended up being removed from the market.
Should I Buy a Simba Luxe Mattress?
To conclude this Simba Luxe Mattress Review, we can say that this is Simba's most advanced mattress, now with a removable and washable cover, it is also made more practical.
Mattresses with more layers bring incremental benefits, with that said this mattress may not be the best bang for your buck but if the price is not that much of an issue you can expect a more balanced and advanced mattress as opposed to the other models.
We would recommend the Simba Luxe Mattress to those looking for a:
- Mattress with advanced layers.
- Hybrid design with a trial period.
- Medium feel mattress.
