In this complete Simba topper review, we have also included a REVIEW SUMMARY AT THE END.
Simba Mattress Topper Construction & Layers
Now, this is an interesting topper, from our mattress topper reviews this is the one of the only that uses a hybrid design. By hybrid construction we mean it uses the benefits of mini-springs as well as pressure-relieving foams.
The Simba mattress topper is made up of three internal layers (Simbatex layer, mIQro™ springs and a base foam) and a cover which we will get into shortly which surround the spring layer.
All Simba mattress toppers/ materials are sourced and made in Europe. Simba work with mattress topper factories in the UK and Poland. Here we get into the layers individually and how it all comes together.
Layers
- Simbatex synthetic latex (2.5cm)
- Conical pocket springs (2cm)
- High resilience foam (2cm)
1. Simbatex Synthetic Latex
This layer was regularly used in the Simba mattress. This is a synthetic latex layer and is located at the top of the Simba mattress topper because of its comforting properties. The Simbatex material has graphite infused into it to produce a cooling layer by filtering the heat.
Synthetic latex is a synthetically produced material that takes on the properties of natural latex, that way generally people allergic from Natural latex do not experience any reactions from synthetic latex.
*Please do consult a doctor if you do have reactions with latex materials.
2. Conical Pocket Springs
Here we have up to 2,500 specially shaped mIQro™ springs that are designed to cradle your body and create the perfect sleeping environment. Another advantage springs have over foam is that it allows for air to better pass through creating a cooler sleeping experience.
These springs are conically shaped meaning they can be collapsed and support you from all angles as compared to ordinary pocket sprigs.
3. High Resilience Foam
Finally, a high-density base foam to give it a strong foundation for the upper layers to rest on and to sit on your current mattress.
Cover
The cover or as Simba call it the sleep surface. This cover is hypoallergenic, which is great for all those prone to allergies. Also, it is highly breathable as shown with the image below when combined with the internal layers. The 3D meshed fabric allows for heat to pass through that way you are not left with a clump of heat beneath you.
Simba has included 4 straps around the corners which are used to secure the Simba topper to your mattress to ensure the topper doesn't move and that you can sleep uninterrupted.
Support & Comfort
The layers used in the Simba topper was no accident. Generally, foam layers are great in reducing motion transfer as it dampens the energy however the downside is that there is no bounce. Springs add a degree of bounce and support but intern are not the best option when it comes to motion isolation, especially if you are looking for something as a couple.
That is why Simba engineered the topper with a hybrid focus. Thus it has the support form the mini springs yet also the comfort from the foams.
