Simba Duvet Construction

Remember when we mentioned Simba's use of advanced materials and technologies used in their products? Well, the Simba Duvet is no different. The Simba Hybrid duvet is a three-layer composition with cooling and airflow as its focus property. Below we get into each layer.

Simba Duvet Layers

1. Top Cover with Stratos®

This top cover is made from cotton that is sourced from Better Cotton Initiative partners. In other words, the cotton used in the Simba Duvet is taken in a sustainable way. Cotton is a great material for duvet cover as it adds an element of luxury and as its a naturally occurring material it is also great for those with sensitive skin.

Now we get to an interesting part of the top cover. A top Stratos® layer to actively regulate temperature. These are microcapsules, sort of like tiny dots that are applied to the cover which absorb heat and releases it when the environment is cold. This is called phase-change technology which NASA developed and that is where the inspiration of Stratos came.

2. Aerelle® Fibre

This is what Simba call 100% Aerelle® Cool Night polyester fibre. This filling is the core of the Simba duvet. It contains minerals that help draw heat away ensuring always an optimal climate during your sleep. How this layer works can be seen in the image.

This core filling from the Simba duvet doesn't use animal products and is 100% recycled, making it not only hypoallergenic but also more sustainable.

3. Bottom Cover

Finally, we have the other side of the Simba duvet. The bottom half of the cover. This side like the top part is also made from BCI sourced cotton which promotes sustainable cotton production.

Simba Duvet Cover

Overall, this cover is extremely impressive and uses technology and materials that we have not seen before from our duvet reviews.

Apart from Simba's sustainability stance in the engineering of this duvet, they also took a practical approach when it came to making this Simba Hybrid duvet. The Simba duvet is machine washable, simply throw it in the washing machine at up to 40°C. Even if you need to dry it you can pop it into the tumble dryer on low heat.

You may be wondering if you can use the Simba duvet throughout the year during all seasons? Well, because of its design, duvet tog is pretty much not important anymore. The different temperature regulating properties allow for the Simba duvet to be excellent all-year-round.

Duvet Design & Fit

The Simba duvet in our opinion looks great and because of the materials are soft and smooth. Although it looks great can you use the Simba duvet without bedsheets? Simba recommends using a duvet cover for hygienic reasons. For bed linens from Simba follow the button at the bottom of this Simba duvet review, these covers allow the breathable technologies to work optimally.

Many have asked which way is top on the Simba duvet? Simba has included a blue lining on the top side of the duvet for you to easily identify the top side of the duvet as you can see from the image below.

Finally, the Simba duvet has been stitched in a way that keeps the core filler evenly spread throughout the duvet. Say goodbye to hot and cold zones.
