Silentnight Anti-Snore Pillow Review
A shaped pillow marketed for snoring, and the most important thing on this page is not the pillow.

Verdict
A shaped pillow marketed for snoring, and the most important thing on this page is not the pillow. Snoring has several causes, only some of which a pillow can affect, and the one that matters most is the one a pillow cannot touch at all.
Buy it if
You are a back sleeper with mild snoring, you have ruled out anything clinical, and you want a contoured pillow.
Avoid it if
You or your partner are relying on it to fix snoring. Persistent snoring needs a GP, not a pillow.

The scores
An ordinary contoured pillow sold around a claim it can only partly deliver.
You are paying a premium for a claim rather than a construction.
Settles noticeably lower once your head is on it.
Contoured foam suits back sleepers reasonably. Fixed loft limits who it works for.
Solid foam runs warm, and a pillow sits against your face.
None, and on a pillow that is the variable that decides everything.
Not washable. Only the cover and the case ever get cleaned.
Positional change helps some mild snorers. It is not a treatment.
What actually causes snoring, and which a pillow touches
Read this before the review
Obstructive sleep apnoea is a condition in which the airway repeatedly closes during sleep. It is associated with loud snoring, gasping or choking during sleep, and severe daytime sleepiness, and it is linked to raised cardiovascular risk. It is diagnosed by a clinician and treated medically. No pillow treats it.
If you or your partner snore loudly every night, stop breathing during sleep, gasp awake, or you are exhausted during the day despite sleeping enough hours, speak to a GP. That is the single most useful sentence on this page.
Beyond that, snoring has several contributors and a pillow reaches only one of them.
Position. Back sleeping lets the tongue and soft tissue fall backwards, narrowing the airway. This is the one a pillow can influence, by changing head and neck angle or by making back sleeping less comfortable. The effect is real and modest and varies enormously between people.
Nasal congestion. Allergies, a cold, or a structural issue. A pillow does nothing; a clean bedroom, a protector on the mattress and pillow, and treating the congestion do.
Alcohol and sedatives. They relax the airway muscles. Nothing you put under your head changes that, and reducing evening alcohol is one of the more effective things available.
Weight and anatomy. Beyond the scope of a bedding site, and worth discussing with a GP rather than solving with a purchase.
As a pillow, setting the claim aside
Judged purely as a pillow, this is a fixed-loft contoured foam product, which is a well-established category with a well-established limitation.
Height is the variable that determines whether a pillow works, and the right height depends on your sleeping position, your shoulder width and how soft your mattress is. A fixed contour cannot be correct for a broad-shouldered side sleeper and a front sleeper at the same time.
Contoured pillows generally suit back sleepers best, which is at least consistent with the positional snoring claim, since back sleeping is when positional snoring is most common. That is a coherent product for a narrow group and not a universal one.
If you want to try positional change without buying anything, sleeping on your side is the free version, and a body pillow along your back is a more reliable way to stay there than a shaped head pillow.
A correction worth making
Commonly repeated, and wrong
Anti-snore pillows are marketed as though snoring is a single problem with a postural solution. Snoring ranges from mild positional airflow noise to a symptom of obstructive sleep apnoea, a condition diagnosed and treated clinically and associated with raised cardiovascular risk. A pillow can change head angle, which helps some mild positional snorers. It cannot affect nasal congestion, alcohol, anatomy or apnoea, and marketing that does not distinguish between them risks delaying a diagnosis that matters.
Should you buy it?
If you snore persistently, or your partner notices you stop breathing or gasp during sleep, see a GP before buying anything. That is the honest answer to why you are on this page.
As a pillow, a fixed contoured foam design suits back sleepers and is wrong for many others. An adjustable pillow lets you correct the height after sleeping on it, which is the variable that actually decides whether a pillow works.
Questions people ask
Can a pillow stop snoring?
It can change head and neck angle, which helps some people with mild positional snoring, particularly back sleepers. That is a real but limited effect. It cannot affect nasal congestion, alcohol, anatomy or obstructive sleep apnoea.
When should I see a doctor about snoring?
If you or your partner snore loudly every night, stop breathing during sleep, gasp awake, or you are exhausted during the day despite sleeping enough hours. Obstructive sleep apnoea is diagnosed clinically and linked to raised cardiovascular risk.
What helps snoring without buying anything?
Sleeping on your side rather than your back, reducing evening alcohol, which relaxes the airway muscles, and treating nasal congestion. A body pillow along your back is a more reliable way to stay off your back than a shaped head pillow.
