Nectar Classic Memory Foam Mattress Review
The cheapest mattress from a recognised UK brand, attached to the longest trial in the mainstream. What you are buying underneath is foam of undisclosed density.

Verdict
The cheapest mattress from a recognised brand in the UK, attached to the longest trial in the mainstream. Both of those are genuine. What you are buying underneath is 25 centimetres of foam of undisclosed density, which is the specification that predicts whether a foam mattress lasts.
Buy it if
It is going in a guest room, a child's bed or a first flat, and the year-long trial is what makes you comfortable buying online.
Avoid it if
An adult will sleep on it every night for the next eight years. Cheap all-foam is where durability problems concentrate.

The 365 night trial is the product
Nectar's trial is the longest offered by any mainstream UK brand, and it is the strongest argument for buying anything from this company.
Here is why a year matters more than the marketing suggests. The most common reason people are unhappy with a mattress is firmness, and firmness is the one property you cannot judge in a shop or from any description. Thirty days is enough to know you hate something. A hundred nights is enough to be reasonably sure. A year covers a complete cycle of seasons, which matters if you sleep hot in summer, and it covers the two to four week period where your body is still adapting from whatever you slept on before.
On a 199 pound mattress that trial removes almost all of the risk from the purchase. That is a genuinely good offer and I want to be clear about it before I am critical about the rest.
The scores
Cheap, low risk, and built from materials whose durability nobody will tell you about.
Two hundred pounds with a year-long trial is hard to argue with at entry level.
Twenty-five centimetres of foam with no spring core. Adequate at light build, marginal beyond.
All-foam at 25cm with no named airflow structure. It will run warm.
No perimeter reinforcement, which is standard for foam and still a real limitation.
Deep foam does this better than anything. The genuine strength here.
365 nights is the best in the UK mainstream and it is not close.
The number that decides whether this lasts
I raise foam density on every foam mattress I review and it matters more here than anywhere else on this site, because this is the cheapest foam mattress I cover.
Foam density, measured in kilograms per cubic metre, is the best available predictor of how long a foam mattress holds its shape. Standard memory foam runs from around 16 to 80 kg per cubic metre. Comfort layers in decent bedding typically sit between 48 and 72. Low density foam can begin developing body impressions within three to five years, and considerably sooner under heavier load.
Nectar does not publish density figures. Nor does Emma, nor Simba, nor almost anyone in this category. At 199 pounds, though, the question becomes sharper: the cost of foam is dominated by density, so a mattress at this price is not being made from the higher end of that range.
That is inference rather than knowledge, and I am labelling it as such. But it is the reason the support score here is a 5 and the reason I would not put this in a main bedroom.
On the lifetime guarantee
Nectar advertises a lifetime or forever warranty, which sounds like it resolves the durability question. Read the terms before you let it.
Long guarantees in this category typically require sagging beyond a stated threshold, frequently 25 millimetres measured with nothing on the mattress, plus conditions about the base you use and often about using a protector. A dip deep enough to make a mattress uncomfortable is frequently less than 25 millimetres. The guarantee can therefore be entirely genuine and still almost impossible to claim on.
What actually protects you
Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 sit with the retailer who sold you the mattress, not the manufacturer, and run up to six years in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, five in Scotland. Goods must be of satisfactory quality and last a reasonable length of time. Those rights apply regardless of what any guarantee says. On a mattress that dips at year three, that is a stronger position than the word forever.
Should you buy it?
For a spare room, a child's bed, a student flat or a holiday let: yes. At 199 pounds with a year to change your mind, it is a low-risk purchase and the motion isolation is genuinely good.
For the bed you sleep in nightly: no. The Origin Hybrid at 265 pounds gives you 26 centimetres and up to 3,000 pocket springs, and even Emma's Original Lite at 199 has a three-zone spring layer. Springs at this price are available and they will outlast foam.

Questions people ask
Is the 199 pound Nectar mattress any good?
For a guest room, a child's bed or a first flat, yes, and the 365 night trial removes almost all the risk. For a bed an adult sleeps on nightly, no. Cheap all-foam is where durability problems concentrate, and Nectar does not publish foam density.
How long is the Nectar trial?
Three hundred and sixty-five nights, which is the longest offered by any mainstream UK brand. A year covers a full cycle of seasons and the two to four week period where your body is still adapting from your previous mattress.
What does Nectar's lifetime warranty actually cover?
Read the terms. Long guarantees in this category typically require sagging beyond a threshold, often 25mm measured unweighted, plus conditions about the base and sometimes a protector. A dip deep enough to be uncomfortable is frequently less than 25mm.
