Helix Review
A well-regarded American mattress brand with no UK retail presence, which appears in British search results because UK sites copy American roundups.

Verdict
A well-regarded American mattress brand with no UK retail presence, which appears in British search results because UK sites copy American roundups. This page carries no score, because there is no UK product to score, and the sizing alone would make one pointless.
Who should buy it
Nobody in the UK. There is no UK channel, no UK trial, no UK warranty route and no UK sizes.
Who should avoid it
Anyone in the UK. If a British site recommended Helix to you, it copied an American article.

Why an American brand appears in UK results
There is no UK Helix
Helix sells in the United States. There is no UK direct channel, no UK trial, no UK returns collection and no UK entity to administer a warranty claim.
It appears in British search results for a simple reason. A great deal of UK mattress content is adapted from American articles, because American mattress publishing is larger, older and easier to rewrite than it is to research a market from scratch.
The tell is usually visible if you look. American brands in a UK list, queen sizes quoted where Britain uses king, prices in dollars converted to round pounds, or phrases like nationwide shipping on a site with no shipping information.
This is the same failure that leaves Casper in current UK roundups five years after it withdrew from Britain, and it is worth recognising because it tells you how much of a site's other advice was checked.
Even if you imported one, it would not fit
US and UK mattress dimensions are different enough that an imported mattress is not a practical option.
| US name | US size | Closest UK |
|---|---|---|
| Twin | 99 × 191 cm | Single, slightly wider |
| Queen | 152 × 203 cm | Between a UK king and super king |
| King | 193 × 203 cm | Wider than a UK super king |
Note the fact that catches everyone: a US queen at 152 centimetres wide is larger than a UK king at 150. So American reviews describing a queen as adequate for a couple and a king as luxurious do not translate at all. Their queen is our king.
An imported US mattress would not fit a UK frame and would not take UK fitted sheets. See the UK bed sizes guide for the full comparison.
What to buy instead
Helix's American proposition is a range of hybrids matched to sleeping position and body type. Several UK brands do the equivalent.
For a firm hybrid, Otty's Extra Firm or Rem-Fit's 4000 Ortho Elite. For soft, Otty's Pure+ 4000 at a stated 5 out of 10 with 4,000 springs. For value, Origin's Hybrid Pro at £374.
All three are live UK propositions with UK sizes and UK returns, which is the thing no American brand can offer a British buyer at any price.
A correction worth making
Commonly repeated, and wrong
A significant share of UK mattress content is adapted from American articles, which is why brands with no British retail presence appear in UK roundups. The signs are recognisable: American brands in a UK list, queen sizes quoted where Britain uses king, or dollar prices converted to round pounds. It matters beyond the individual recommendation, because a site that did not check whether a brand sells in Britain did not check much else either.
Should you buy it?
There is nothing here to buy in Britain. If you arrived from a UK list recommending Helix, that list was adapted from American content and its other recommendations deserve the same scepticism.
Start with the best mattresses in the UK, where everything listed can actually be bought here in sizes that fit your bed.
Questions people ask
Can you buy a Helix mattress in the UK?
No. Helix sells in the United States. There is no UK direct channel, no UK trial, no UK returns collection and no UK entity to administer a warranty claim.
Why do American mattress brands appear in UK searches?
Because a great deal of UK mattress content is adapted from American articles. The tells are recognisable: American brands in a UK list, queen sizes quoted where Britain uses king, or dollar prices converted to round pounds.
Would a US mattress fit a UK bed?
No. A US queen at 152 by 203cm is actually larger than a UK king at 150 by 200, and a US king at 193cm is wider than a UK super king. An imported US mattress would not fit a UK frame or take UK fitted sheets.
