Another great offering from the Resident House?. This DreamCloud mattress review (UK version) is on DreamCloud’s Luxury Hybrid Mattress. The DreamCloud mattress has had a great reception over in the states and now has brought their unique mattress here to the UK.
With thousands of customer reviews already on the DreamCloud Luxury mattress, we had no choice but to do our own examination and study to see if this mattress can compete with the other hybrid mattresses out there.
SPOILER ALERT!! the trial and Warranty are rediculous. Let us get straight into this DreamCloud UK mattress review (SUMMARY AT THE END).
DreamCloud Mattress Construction
A hybrid mattress is defined as a mattress that combines the comfort and softness of foams such as memory foam or polyfoam with the support and sturdiness of springs, that way you get the best of both worlds. The DreamCloud mattress has 4 unique internal layers: breathable memory foam, polyfoam support foam, ActivEdge™ coils and finally a base foam layer.
Many UK mattress brands have adopted the CertiPUR® certification and DreamCloud is no exception. In a nutshell, CertiPUR® approved foams are made without mercury, lead and other heavy metals, and emit low levels of VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million).
We did a bit of an investigation for this DreamCloud mattress review and found that it is proudly British as the mattresses are manufactured and shipped within the UK.
DreamCloud Mattress Quilted Cover
All luxury or premium mattresses invest many resources in creating a cover that not only is ultra comforting but aesthetically pleasing to the eye. DreamCloud's cover definitely fits the description. The quilted and double tufted cover not only is designed with premium softness but also engineered to be breathable. By using innovative phase change materials the DreamCloud delivers a temperature-controlled sleep experience.
Additionally, the DreamCloud cover incorporates 4 handles (2 on each side) adding that extra practicality for when you need to move the mattress.
DreamCloud Mattress Layers
1. Memory Foam Comfort Layer
DreamCloud's very own DreamPlush memory foam. By placing a memory foam layer at the top, this ensures a deep contouring and pressure-relieving feel as you touch the mattress. Memory foam is slow in response, this means it forms the shape of your body very well.
Memory foam is known to be heat retentive but by strategically placing it below the airy cooling cover this mitigates the effect of heat retention.
2. Transition Foam Layer
Next up is a quicker reacting foam layer which will help the mattress to swiftly shape the mattress to form around your body shape.
An added benefit by bringing in a firmer more supportive layer is that it's used as a transition layer between the soft memory foam layer and the underneath spring layer.
3. ActivEdge™ Coil Layer (15cm)
A hybrid mattress relies on its coils to provide the main support of the mattress. Keeping your spine aligned no matter your sleeping position. The DreamCloud makes use of full 15cm coils/springs whereas many hybrid mattresses use miniature-sized springs.
The reason why its called ActivEdge™ is because they provide exceptional support across the entire surface of the mattress and the edge. That way you don't sink to the floor when sitting on the side of the mattress.
4. Supportive Base Layer
Finally, we have the base layer for the coils to sit on and to act as another layer to reduce motion transfer from restless partners by absorbing the energy.
How Thick Is the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress?
All in all the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid mattress is 29 cm in thickness.
DreamCloud Mattress Firmness
The team at DreamCLoud UK designed the Luxury Hybrid to appeal to the majority of sleepers in the UK. From our DreamCloud mattress review, we have given it a 6.5 out of 10 in terms of firmness with 10 being the hardest.
We always recommend trying the mattress for 3-6 weeks to allow your body to get used to it. That way you can truly feel the benefits of the mattress.
Aesthetics and Design
Nothing screams luxury than a clean white top and premium gold/brown side panel in a double tufted design. The mattress looks so good it doesn't need a sheet. The colour combination also works well in nearly every type of room with its neutral theme.
